Lovely pastoral music with an electronic twist. If you ever liked 'folktronica' back in the day or if you like post rock or instrumental music in general, this collection of post modern sea shanties will transport you to a beautiful place
Favorite track: Bleak and Beautiful (All Things).
Fantastic sounds, just like an overturned toy box that never stops!
This is the second album from Haiku Salut, the UK-based female folktronica trio, who started writing music after they were influenced by múm, an Icelandic artist who hatched a new theory of electronica music, and the Amélie soundtrack, a French romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
This awesome album has been crafted by blending instruments such as accordion, glockenspiel, piano, classical guitar, ukulele, trumpet, drums and synthesizer, with Aphex Twin and Lemon Jelly-esque groovy beats, with plenty of the playfulness. This method is the similar to the incipient múm, The Books and Animal Collective, but this album has Haiku Salut's unique originality that is a fresh sound created by their lovely melodies.
They are already highly regarded within media circles, with The Guardian, Uncut, Mojo, Artrocker, Drowned In Sound, Music OMH, The Digital Fix, and Rock’N'Reel all writing complimentary articles, and have accomplished a performance on the Mountain Stage at the Green Man Festival. In addition, the songs were played on BBC 6 Music by Jarvis Cocker, Tom Ravenscroft and Gideon Coe.

This heartbreakingly beautiful music must have been born of Ukraine's troubles of 2014. It is all the more poignant now, in 2022, against the unspeakable cruelty being visited on the people of that country. Do something for Ukraine. Max North
